All the time, I'm a liberal democrat in Texas. I don't like Bush, don't believe in the death penalty, believe in freedom of religion, am pro-homsexuality, and pro animal rights. I also believe in prisoner rights, etc.
People like me are rare in small town Texas. But I still stand up for what I believe in. I'm not irrational with it, most of the time. I simply let everyone know that their political, racial, animal, religious views are different than mine.
It was very hard to learn how to speak up, especially against family members. But I felt much better about myself afterward. I've had some pretty heated arguments over these issues, but every thing always turns out okay. We usually agree to disagree.

All the time. Yes, it is hard, at first. It isn't that I know MORE than any other person, but IF I have the dedication, knowledge, experience, or even the education about a subject, I will speak out.
Unfortunately, it makes me really unpopular at work. But when I go home at night, I can sleep because I have done or said "the next right thing for the next right reason."

Finally-a good question! Thanks for asking, there are certainly some good responses.
I speak out anytime I don't agree with something, the down side is that I am often considered argumentative because I don't go with the consensus of the group.
I tend more recently to get more vocal about the bizarre attitude USA has towards Israel as it continues to steal homeland from palestinians, deny them basic human rights, and most Americans think it is ok because it is in the name of religion although from the Israeli point of view that is not the case at all!
Anyway, I could go on and on, but again, thanks for a thoughtful question.

Yup. All the time. Thats why I'm not allowed to be around my boyfriend's extended family. I'm pro-chice, non-Christian, and Liberal. Most everyone at work is conservative, so wehnever they open the door they get an earful. It's all in fun, though; sometimes I'll jab at them and they'll jab at me.
My mom is aso Middle-Eastern, and people are absolutely shocked when I deffend Middle-Easterners, to the point that they accuse me of being a terrorist, or anti-American--when they're the ones who are spouting racial epthets!

Yes I have. So many of my friends believe that the old city of Jerusalem should be Israeli. Other friends think it should be part of Palestine. I believe that it should be made a world heritage site-belonging to no one, and belonging to all. Too many people of different faiths and countries love it.
I think I shock people when I say this.

Yes, A group of my friends thought it was cool to pay out a girls mum after she lost her breast to cancer,
Little did they know that my dad was suffereing from cancer,
Im a heaps oppinionated person, So i went off, And yeh, they were all shocked, probally more at the fact that they didn't realise that my dad had cancer, but they couldn't stop apologising, I wasn't scared to say anything, But hearing them pay that woman out hurt me enough to yell at every single one of them
