why is it that when you highlite this or anything else on yahoo answers and right click it you can google it? isn't yahoo good enough by its own standards?

It's probably a behavior of your browser and internal browser settings for the default search engine, rather than something in the page content provided by Yahoo.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser, and when I do the, I get the search engine that is set as the default in my settings (Yahoo).

I can only Yahoo! Search for it, maybe it's the toolbar you downloaded or something. Since I use Yahoo! a lot more on this computer it's the predominant one of the 2.

I think that is Microsoft that has Explorer set that way.

do you have by any chance google toolbar installed or had it installed? that should answer your question
