I want to buy a Nokia N91, but apparently it is locked to Australia's 3 Network.
I want to make sure that when I travel I can use a local SIM card.

Looks like you might be out of look with this particular phone. A lot of Nokia's you can unlock remotely via entering an unlock code but seemingly not for this one

Don't do it!!!! Although Nokia's are the easiest phone to unlock the N91's and the whole N series of Nokia phones can't be unlocked yet.

If they have a SIM card then they can be unlocked. I don't think verizon or sprint phones can be unlocked. I unlocked my T-mobile Nokia phone, I just went on ebay and purchased one for like 3 bucks.

probably you cannot do it yourself, unless you are trained in that field

but what i did i went to a local cell phone shop, not the carrier or network store and they sold me a unlocked phone, where any sim card can be used
