This is to build an electrathon car.

I know aluminum is light, but its not easily weldable...any other ideas?

if you put aluminum up against any other metal,,pound for pound ,,it is the only metal for the weight of it that is strong enough,,and it will weld easier than a lot of people think it will,,,i hope this helps.

Aluminum, is quite light, but not sure if its the cheapest. Probably alot cheaper than titanium, or mangenese, and other exotic metals and such.

ADDED: Is weldable, Just have to know how, and with what kind of welder.

The only metal tubes I know that meets most of your criteria to a reasonable degree is thin wall steel tubings.
