i have a compaq presario 1200 notebook with windows mellenium edition. i recently formatted both hard disks and went to reload the OS and nothing happened. It will load the recovery disk but windows will not apper. insted, it will be a command prompt with the drive letter A:/>. what should i do to bring windows back?

Put in your Windows CD and reboot the computer. It should start the windows setup from the CD. The recovery disk only allows you access to the hard drive so you repair a install of Windows that is not working right. It does not reinstall Windows if you have it removed it. You have to do that from the CD.

While you're at it,go to Costco and pick up a copy of XP, so that you can throw ME in the trash where it belongs!!! XP is only $90 at Costco.
