Could it be that mom can't afford to pay a doctor right now? She can help the discomfort in your ear by warming some cooking oil and putting a drop or two in your ear. Have her do it for you tho, the oil must not be too warm, just slightly warmer than skin temperature. It will soften any wax that may be pressing on the ear drum, and the warmth will ease the discomfort.
