Seriously - I can't understand it - Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.... and plus so many black people are religious -- or at least they're religious and know how to "get some church up in here" on Sundays...

Ok. The stuff about racism and ignorance is true. But--this is an open forum, let's try to (somehow) answer this question. I think when you reference 'people' in this term, you are already suggesting ignorant or defiant people who are not used to, trained to, or capable of, thinking about things in a level-headed manner, such as who to vote for and why.

But to the really venemous on this forum...it's a forum...let's not take it too seriously, it's a good question, it's making people think.

I guess it comes down to the fact the blacks are like everyone else in that regards. For instance, conservatives Christians usually jump on the James Dobson bandwagon and always vote Republican. The same thing is true with many blacks. They jump on the bandwagon and blindly believe that democrats are working for them. It is not very common to do the most sensible thing and examine each candidate in light of all the issues.

Politics has become a foolish game. They will use whomever to be elected. Neither party is really acting for the people. They are mostly self-serving. As a result, we the people suffer the consequences.

Simple, the democratic party tends to focus efforts on minorities around election time and the republicans don't. Both parties help, contrary to what many people believe, the democrats just make a bigger deal out of it. It comes down to demographics, the republicans dominate the "white" vote in the south and the democrats need to counter that, so they go for the "black" votes in the south. If you pay attention, blacks in other parts of the country are rarely, if ever, mentioned by the democrats. It is all about elections.

That seems like a generalization, and, looking at the current Republican regime can you blame ANY race of people for being a bitter toward them at this time? It seems to me, as a Caucasian, that every time there's a Republican in the White House either our economy goes into the toilet or we get into yet another war.

What ever happened to the "Separation of Church and State", and who says that Democrats are less religious than Republicans? Oh yeah - the Republicans tout it, so it must be true.

First of all Lincoln didnt free the slaves out of the goodness of his heart. He did it to save the union. Secondly the demos have done much more than the repubs in the fight for racial equality. The kind of religion that is currently going on with the repubs is from the mouth out only and people are smart enough to spot a phony, especially black people.

All black people do not vote Democrat! Ummmmmmm...Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Ken Blackwell (who is African-American, Republican and running for Governor of Ohio)...heard of them? All of whom are African-American AND Republican. And, religion has absolutely nothing to do with this! Try actually reading or watching the news and educating yourself before making generalizations or pre-judgments!! By the way, I AM African-American and a DEMOCRAT. Why? Because I CHOOSE to be!

Not all do. I am sure Bill Cosby didn't. But also Because the democratic party uses fear mongering by saying the republican party will take away entitlements. And it is also their way of keeping the black people enslaved to their party. Besides their are many that don't http://www.tedhayes.net/

That is an age old question. Democrats were violently opposed to civil rights in the 60's, yet southern blacks constantly vote for them. It has to do with the perception the JFK was a pro-black president, and his assassination made him a martyr.

Blacks don't vote any one way exclusively. Our beliefs, ideologies, party alignments are as diverse as any other ethnicity. There are black republicans, democrats, independent, libertarians, free soilers, etc. We all don't like rap and some of us are timely. Don't fall into the trap of stereotyping any ethnicity. Lets just say there are informed voters and uninformed voters and no one party or race has monopoly. Not all blacks understand slang either so where is the "here" you referenced???
