The census defines Middle Easterners as white. They are considered part of the "mediterranean" white subgroup, although to be honest some of them don't look white to me.

Well, actually, Caucasians are descended from Middle Eastern Iranians. Do not forget that diet and environment can also lighten/darken the skins. The Iranians were slightly darker variants of white (ivory), along with the Aryans. In fact the Aryans and Iranians are practically the same. The Dravidians of South Asia were really dark skinned. That's why you'll find light-skinned Indians and dark-skinned Indians - because the Indians are descended from the Aryans and Dravidians.
As such, the Middle Easterns and the Easterners are related. And due to migrations (take the Diaspora for example), you get the lighter-skinned Europeans. Also the Native Celts were very very white.

im from israel and i consider myself white but there is a class called middle-eastern. black, white, and middle-eastern are three things in the same catagory so technically, i am middle-eastern.

Middle-easterns are not a single nation.
Yes, they are 'white', but, maybe a bit brownish...
Some are Arabs, there are Jews, etc.
