Call the Bar association in your county or city. Explain what you need, and it will give you references. Most of the time, the introduction appointment is free.

I'm a believer in seeking references. If you can't find any at all, then of course you have no other options that to go to the yellow pages, or to use the Lawyer's Referral Service (also in the yellow pages, attorney section).

There are really thousands of people out there who have used attorneys for domestic matters. You will probably find many referrals within your working or social environement. When seeking an attorney, one person may look for something different. Some want a 'bull dog' type and others might want one that is quick to 'get to the bottom line' and has a good sense of how a judge would decide on an issue, hence not to waste your time and money just to make it look good.

The above reference to an attorney named Silverman lacked one thing I was looking for. It didn't say if the writer actually used that attorney, therefore speaks from experience and knows the attorney is competent, fair, and has a good approach to problems, or he just pulled it off a web page with a few key words. In fact if you look at Silverman on the Calif. Bar website, you see that he incurred a 'suspension' in 1994 and was prohibited from practicing law for a short time. It doesn't say why and it may have nothing to do with competence, but I point it out because sometimes 'you just don't know'.

A referral by someone who has used a particular attorney and can tell you something about him/her and about their customer satisfaction level, would in my opinion, be a first choice of searching for a good match for your needs.

type in fathers rights online ,it is a pro se group that helps others represent themselves in court is cheap or free and is very supportive offers resources you can type up your whole issue and get bak a personal response ,and go down to what ever court house you filed in and go to the floor where people are in custody battles and start asking people if their exs attorney is aggressive or theirs and the name after you talk ,family court is has alot of customers but a small group of regulars I did this and everyone is more than willing to talk and ***** and moan, let them pretty soon one attorney will be regarded with the most hatred and a few people will all name the same one even other attorneys know this one is ruthless, that is the one you want ,
