Here is my viewpoint.
a.) An increase in covert weapons deal! When the world was polarized, neither side could afford to have allies of the other side secure or even attempt to secure weapons of mass destruction. Sadly, that hidden benefit of an otherwise futile war is lost now.
b.) A major shift in American focus from communism to militant Islamic fundamentalism. Had the cold war continued, religious fundamentalism would have been exploited by one or the other side. It would have been very very difficult for America to counter the two beasts even with all the 'might' that it boasts of.
I do not remember but there is an old chinese saying that translates into:
"No matter how fast you are, you still have only two hands".

Being how both major activities have split this united states in 0.5, i imagine having an self sufficient with an time table outdoors of appeasing their party can be a sensible replace. yet like each politicians, dirty deals are carried out in the back of closed doors to the optimal paying lobbyist. i do not positioned any faith or have believe in any politican or felony specialist.
