There are circles in crops. That's not a hoax. It's where they came from that intrigues people.

Well, it's sort of a 50-50 deal. About 50% of crop circles {also known as signs} are man-made, while the other 50% are unexplained. Usually, you can tell if a crop circle is a fake by having the crop examined. If the crop is damaged {i.e. snapped} you most likely have a bogus sign; but if the crop is undamaged, you have got yourself a real crop circle.
As for why, my guess is that someone, or something, is sending us messages. I must admit that one circle is quite amazing.
You see, a scientist analyzed a sign mathematically, and all the numbers perfectly matched the musical scale! He put all the "notes" together, and it's result is a creepy-sounding melody, which he dubbed "The Crop Circle Chord". If you'd like, I could probably send it to you, since I have the thing on an "Unsolved Mysteries" tape, and it'd be a snap to transfer it to digital form.
Well, I hope you found my information useful.

Some think crop circles are caused by aliens. If aliens are trying to contact us, why would they be ruining crops to do so? If their technology is so advanced that they can travel between the stars, couldn't they come up with something better than crop circles?
Occam's razor - the simplest explanation is probably the correct one. In this case, the simplest explanation is that regular human beings are creating the crop circles, some take credit for it, some just sit back and watch all the silly people talk about UFOs and aliens and other silliness.

Hello, Dreamwolf.
Crop circles may be real and the government wants us to think that they are a human made hoax.
I think that the reason crop circles are made in these wheat feilds is the posibilty that this huge area is an ideal and safe place for an inteligent form of life to send a message while being able to see what they are writing from such a far away distance.
As we one day may be able to see other planets, we may allso try to send them a message. This may be done with romote probes or a form of linterstelar laser writing capability.
A wheat feild is a perfect gaint piece of paper.

crop circles are real and a hoax
crop circles are real in that they actually really exist
they are a hoax only when the people who make them try to get people to believe that the circle's origins are metaphysical or extraterrestrial

Hoax. Two British pranksters started it after drinking one night and many copycats erupted all over the place. You can easily do it with a rope between two people, one stationary in the center and the other walking in circles. The plant stays bent by its own weight.

I think some are real, others are fake. It's still hard to explain the "real" ones though.
