Stretch your hamstrings and quads everyday in the split postition. You are trying to eliminate the tension that stops you. you don't need to go all the way down, at first, you won't. after a while it should come to you. do some simple stretches like reaching for your toes and get the circulation through or the blood won't flow and you'll get a bad pain in your legs it happened to me! Once you master the split itself you can just sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiide down! and bounce back up!

Before you attempt any splits. you must be in condition for the ligaments and muscles to be loose and stretched. The first step to this is to sit on the floor. legs spread apart out in front of you. grab ankels and pull chest toward the floor and touch chin on floor. do not bob or bounce. this will hurt your joints. When you have accomplished this. doing it several times a day. depending on your stretch and your body . it may take 2 days or 2 monthes.
Then stand up. and do a Jazz split. standing with one foot in front of another facing sideways. gently slide feet out. bracing hands to catch however far you can get down closer to the floor. , ease gently each time till you are down and your knee is bent in the back and your front leg is straight.
Once you have accomplished this with ease. You can now attempt it with both legs straight and ease down. . still doing your warm ups with legs each day. Within a short time , you should be able to do a full split.and slide back up. or as we use to mimic James brown in his jump and split off the stage, ,, I hope you are successful. Everyone's body loolseness is different , so it is not possible to tell you how long it will take. Tight people will take forever ,but if you stretch everyday, a few times. and practice these moves. you shall be able to accomplished this move, If you are having a problem, join a basic ballet course, ,just fort eh exercise for your body.

Start out by doing a lot of stretching. The more warmed up you are, the better split you can do.

i cant check a vid, but you either put one foot in front and plant the other sideways behind you and simply slide your front foot forward as far as it will go until you are sitting on the ground, or the sideways one you spread your feet wide to the sides of you and then slowly force your feet apart till you are sitting on the floor, this takes a long time to get done if you arent flexable so do it several times a day, as far as you can go comfortably and then push just a tiny bit past your comfort level, eventually you will get your tendons streatched, but it takes a good while and lots of effort. good luck

just stretch twice a day in that position, morning and night, until then tension in those muscles are almost gone. don't stretch within a time limit. Every body is different. so the best stretching is done by waiting until the tension is gone.
hope this helps!

Lots of stretching and exercise the whole body. If one is really limber it makes it easier. Don't try doing it if you are not in shape you can pull muscles and injure yourself!
