I'm due in November and in all my ultrasounds my baby has been completely healthy and I dyed my hair when I was pregnant before I was due and even after. Its completely fine, just remember to stay in a well ventalated area, I haven't heard of any of my friends or co-workers who dyed their hair that there childrens hair came out yellow or orange or purple, or some outlandish color like that, and no one has seen the effect of hair dye during pregnancy linking to brain cancer.

But if you are nervous about it call your OBGYN and speak to a nurse, should settle all your fears.

I believe that research has proved that coloring your hair while pregnant does not harm your baby. However, due to an imbalance in hormones during pregnancy, the concern is more for your hair. Sometimes the hair ends up getting fried, a color unlike the one it was supposed to be, or just not taking at all. It is best to at least consult a hair care professional. If you decide to go ahead and color the hair yourself, I suggest you use a temporary or at the very least semi-permanent. That way, you know it can't fry your hair and it will wash out if you're not happy with it.

Yes. Not being able to dye your hair during pregnancy is an old wive's tale. My hairdresser, my OB, and several articles say this. The tiny amount of chemical that would seep into your scalp through your pores should not effect you or your baby in any way. I did it from the very beginning without a problem. Good thing, too, or I would have looked like my son's grandmother without it! Congratulations!

Of course you 'can' but whether you should or not is a completely different matter. There are many reports of the chemicals within hairdyes being harmful to the developing fetus, therefore it is generally recommended that you don't.

If you search you can easily find vegetable based hair dyes which are supposed to be very effective. You just need to be creative.

i'm told that the chemicals of hair dye will absorb in the scalp, which will go into the blood stream and can cause some damage to the baby. but technically there is no scientific proof that there are any damage done. but i rather be safe than sorry and not do it.

then again, britney spears dyed her hair with the approval of her doctor...so there may be certain types of brand you can use. i suggest asking your doctor.

you aren't supposed to die your hair for AT LEAST the first trimester... some doctors reccommend avoiding it all together to be safe.....

but look at Britney Spears....she had her hair dyed......and she is a glowing example of what motherhood and pregnancy are all about.... i shouldn't be mean.....it isn't like i've been a perfect mom myself..... but i didn't die my hair...even though it was dyed platinum before i concieved my middle child.....and i had to let it grow out and i looked like a skunk in reverse and then i chopped off my hair into a short do.....

It depends on your OB - some will let you continue to dye your hair, others will tell you to stop. There is no steadfast rule, so ask your OB.
