To be on the SAFE side, contact your child's pediatrician. He/She will have a better idea on your child's health to answer your question. For the mean time, don't use any medication. You probably aren't sure what to give the infant and it can be dangerous if you gave an overdose of the medication. An infant that starts to grow teeth is normal. Usually, it doesn't hurt as much, but the infant's gum will itch. The infant will also drool a lot so prepare lots and lots of baby bibs. Contact your child's doctor the first thing tomorrow.

Infant Motrin works really good if the baby is really having a tough time. But the baby has to be over six months old. Motrin isn't for babies under six months. I gave it to my son when he was having a hard time sleeping while a few teeth were coming through. It goes by weight just like Tylenol, and it takes a little while longer to work unlike Tylenol, however when it kicks in (about 45 minutes to an hour) it really does a nice job :) Good luck to you and your baby.

Don't bother with Orajel. When they're teething, they drool so much it's gone within seconds. And I myself only give Tylenol if my son has a fever. Best things ever, are the teething tablets. I use the Little Teethers brand. He's even gotten to where he doesn't mind having them in his mouth. I've heard that Orajel toughens their gums, make teething harder than it has to be. And the tablets are all natural, so you can feel better about "having" to give something, I know I don't give Tylenol unless he has a fever w/ the teething. Just don't give Motrin until 6 months.

Girl my baby is getting his 4 top teeth at the same time and the Hyland's teething tablets are working wonders! He's actually sleeping more hours during the night. Give those a shot if nothing else works :)

There's always good trusty oragel they make a baby version there's also all natural teething tablets that dissolve in the babies mouth and help the pain. They didn't work to well for my kids I'll stick with oragel and tylenol to keep fever off. Good luck

I have found that baby oragel works really well. The is also a product on the market called Teething Tablets (you can get them at Wal-Mart). They are all natural and the numb it and calm the baby down so he or she isn't as fussy. Also I would try using frozen wash cloths (just wet them so they are damp, put them in a baggy and freeze them). Children will normally like to chew on these

I was also going to say baby orajel... but frozen bananas work great, just watch to make sure they dont bite a piece off.
If you do decide to go with pain meds, I give mine baby motrin instead of tylenol. It works a lot better for them (tylenol doesn't help them at all, its like they have a resistance to it or something).

Try teething tablets. They're homeopathic and really work. They dissolve in a baby's mouth and give it almost a "relaxed" feeling. They taste great too. Plus they're not too expensive.

baby IBUPROPHEN, or MOTRIN, it lasts up to eight hours and baby is in a better mood. Plus since it lasts eight hours thank god it does the baby will sleep better through the night, so you can get your zzzz's as well. I'm a mother of three and my kids hated baby orajel. Also give the baby a cold wet washcloth to chew on, it will keep her happy for hours.
