I would think congress could impeach for a lot of reasons. You can do some pretty terrible things that aren't illegal. I may be wrong.

Yes, but it can be anything illegal.

Article II Section 4. "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

By way of example, any of the following would individually be grounds for impeachment of Bush:

Bush has ordered illegal warrantless wiretapping in felony violation of FISA and Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control Act (18 USC 2511), as determined in federal court.

Bush has committed actions our own laws clearly define as war crimes (18 USC 2441). By his own admission and according to findings of the US Supreme Court.

Either of those is mandatory grounds for impeachment, as defined by the Constitution.

According to the Constitution a President must commit "high crimes and misdemeanors. This is decided by the House Of Representatives. If the House decides to convict the President, then the Senate must vote whether or not the President is guilty or not. The votes for guilty must be 2-3rds of the Senate. Or 66 members. This has never happend to a President. Andrew Johnson was the closest to receiving enough votes. He fell one short of being impeached.

If Bush has commited war crimes and illigal wire tapping then why haven't the Democrats started impeachment procedings? If he is so evil why haven't they taken him out? I don't get it. Every day I read how bad he is all the bytcing and moaning and wringing of hands. I've heard that he is the dumbest president we've ever had. Yet he was smart enough to fool a majority of congress to vote to take out Saddam in Iraq. Doesn't say too much for most of congress's judgement now does it? I am looking forward to someone answering my questions. Thanks!

You little scum bucket, Shadow, are you aware that your statements threatening the president are a Federal felony, and if the Secret Service discovers your comments, you are going to Federal prison? Enjoy!

As far as impeaching the president, you are all stupid. Most Dems were well aware Clinton was guilty as charged, after they voted to acquit him, they gave angry speeches criticizing him for doing exactly what their vote said he had not done.

They voted him innocent solely for political reasons.

What kind if idiots really believe the Republicans are going to vote toss Bush out, after the scummy example the Dems set with Clinton?

This is an example of just how out of touch with reality you Dems are.

By the way, can anyone tell me how to report a death threat against the President, to the Secret Service?

After they impeached Bill Clinton for consenting sex between two people, I would have to say "No". I know they accused him of obstruction of justice because he did not admit it but no one was killed or maimed as they are being now in Iraq. All the Congress had to do was notify Hillary of his doings and he would have been punished for behavior unbecoming a president or he could have taken the Fifth.

The president is to uphold the United States Constitution and if he decides to ignore then he should be impeached. It takes a village to heal this sore that needs to go away once and for all.

It has to be a crime, Clinton didn't get impeachment hearings for getting a BJ, he got impeachment hearings for lying under oath about it.

The issue is not legal versus illegal; the issue is being caught or not being caught.
