these people are right but the way they set up their problem is not the most intuitive

the problem says that 53 students is 30% of the total involved in sports

so 53=30% of x
of always means multiply so
53=.3*x
x=53/.3
x=177

the wording is confusing, the overall percentage of people involved in sports is 100% since every one involved in sports is in fact involved in sports (redundant indeed). However, if the point is to discover the overall amount of students in sports in proportion to the total student population, then we cannot determine the answer because we have no clue as to how many students there are total who are NOT involved in sports. Otherwise my answer would have to be 100%.

I'm thinking it's 10/3 * 53. or 530/3. or 176.67? Of course there are no fractional people, however. So the 30 percent must not be quite exact.
