a professor that I am interested in?
- he is 2 yrs. older than me
- he is Not married
- he is a part time VL
- I'm a grad student
- I felt that we have a lot in common
I felt like we clicked but I'm scared to initiate anything. He's not even teaching next semester. Guys or Prof., what the best way for a girl to approach you in this type of a situation?

I think Suzanne is right. If he is your prof, I think there are regulations that prohibit him from dating you. Check on it. If not, wait until there is a span of time where you won't be seeing one another and just give your phone number saying "in case you want to keep in touch". It's casual, it could mean that you just want to keep in touch regarding matters related to your work with him, but either way, the interpretation is up to him.

Straight up and to the point is the best route to go because hes not stupid and if he is a professional he nor he have time to play kid games and mind games are never much fun in the end.

Watch the movie Beautiful Mind with Russel Crowe. It shows how John Nash and his wife met....which is like your situation.

Be direct. Just say: I'm wondering now that school is over and done with if you wouldn't like to catch a movie or dinner sometime? and see what happens.

First, is he teaching in the department of your major?? Is he one of your teachers? Then hands off until you graduate. If neither of these apply you can invite him for a coffee or something.

As long as you are not his student, his RA or his TA, approach him as you would any other man.

If you are his student or working for him, he could get into trouble by dating you.
