Am I the only one who thinks this question doesn't make a lick of sense? What does a cooking surface have to do with heating your place?
I would like to answer the question the best I can though. As a former electric stove lover, I can appreciate both sides of the spectrum. So I have however changed my opinion of gas stoves and moved toward liking them more. They cook at a more consistent temperature and you can braze things like tortillas. As for grilling. I like using charcoal if I have the time. If not, gas is just as good a substitute.
Now for heating your place, it's a no-brainier; gas is far more efficient. You haven't seen an electric bill until you have tried to heat your house with it. Whew.
Now I'm just sitting back and checking out the question again. It looks like the person might have just misspelled a word. Suppose they meant, "Do you prefer electric, or gas stoves for heating?" I still don't know what the word grill is doing in there, but I'm sure someone will tell me eventually.

I hate my electric stove!!!! I cook a lot and I consider myself very good at it! The temperature never stays constant with an electric stove for some reason!

I love electric heat.

I love charcoal grills. You can't beat that smoky flavor!

Electric still seems to be the most cost effective for heating. For cooking, gas is better and works more efficiently..I like Charcoal on my grill though.
