glow-worms. They then become pupae and from
the pupae emerge the adult lightning bugs.

I found this out from watching the environment on its own.
They hatch from eggs.
Then they become larvae that live in the soil. Before reaching their adult phase, they can be seen glowing on top of the soil. They're "glow worms". COOOL!
