My wisdom teeth are in they've broken the surface but the right one that's in my lower jaw is starting to grow funny and its really ouchy....It's like starting to grow onto that stretchy like thing in the that's in the back of your mouth where they are....(i think it's the hinge or something) I know i need to get them pulled but I'm a college freshman and i can't afford to miss school right now. So i'm thinking it's going to be next summer 07'. Is there anything that I can take or do to relieve the tension in my mouth.....past experiences would be nice.....o and what's it like to be under anesthesia.....they want me to be completely under to remove all four....thanks for your help

My dentist recommended that I also have all 4 done at once, and that I would be out of action for that day, probably.

Do you have a fall break or anything like that coming up? I'm sure Labor Day weekend is out because of the holiday - or, if you can hold out 'til the fall semester is over, do it then.

As far as immediate relief goes, I don't know what'll work - mine are coming in but (fortunately) aren't impacting the others, so I'm relatively pain-free. Maybe you can try some Anbesol or some such thing, or perhaps some extra-strength pain reliever. You really should talk to your dentist, though - I know (s)he'll try to push for the extractions anyway, but (s)he might be able to recommend something. You may need to get the one removed now, or both the lower ones, though, and go for the others later.

Good luck.....as if college wasn't enough of a pain, huh? ; )

There is much to take over the counter besides motrin. I would not wait until next year because you may not last. No matter what anyone tells you get all four of them out at one time it is so much easier that way. Get them removed during the holidays or spring break helps or even a thursday afternoon so you have the weekend to heal.
I had only the nitrous to remove mine along with the local anesthetic and did fine. Some dentist will also sedate you if you are pretty nervous-just make sure you have a driver with you.
Good Luck

I am also a college freshman. I just had all four of my wisdom teeth removed last week. If your teeth have already broken the surface, then you are lucky. All four of mine were impacted. They had to cut them out. It really sucked. They put me completely out. It is just like you are going to sleep. I would recomend that you get your teeth out as soon as possible, so they don't give you trouble. Maybe try Christmas Break, that was my other option. You will need about a week for recovery. Oh, and stock up on lots of pudding and yogat.

I don't know if you can wait that long. Once they start coming in, they need to come out. When I had mine done (all four at once), I was only off work for two days. I had full anesthesisa, and it was GREAT! I basically remember counting backward from 100, reaching 97, then waking up in a nice dark room feeling kind of light-headed and relaxed. Aaahh. Later the pain set in, but I just took regular tylenol to deal with it.

It is best not to wait because the pain will continue to get worse. It is almost like going into a very deep sleep and you feel no pain while you are under it. Ask your doctor but it should not take more than an hour or so to have it done. Your health should always come first

The anesthesia will make you real groggy for several hours - have someone else drive. Anbesol may help, but if you have them out, you could go to classes next day. It is only a tough week, max, if you follow care instructions.

Go ahead and get them taken out. Try to schedule during your fall or spring break from school. You'll feel so much better with them out of your mouth.

Best of luck to you.'
