Hello, what happens if I had intercourse about 24 hours before ovulation, right before my CM changed to watery egg white? Would that increase my chances of having a boy or a girl?

Well 24 hours before ovulating is great! Better chances of conceiving.

Honestly I dont think that really determines or helps determine the sex of a baby. (I had sex 24 hours before and had a boy). If you really want to consider that then... they also say missionary style gives more chances of a boy....

Here is what I go by (If you believe in this) I have done it 5 times and each one was right...

Take the month you conceived (jan = 1, Feb = 2, March =3 etc)
and take the age you conceived at....
add them together...
If the total is an odd number youll have a boy.
If even number it should be a girl.

I conceived in June... I was 25... 25 + 6 = 31
Odd number and my baby was a boy (Matthew Allen)

The closer to ovulation the greater chance for a boy. The further from ovulation the greater chances for a girl. According to Shettles the 24 hr mark is a 50/50 chance of boy or girl. As you move to 2-3 days prier to O then the chances for a girl go up. 24 hours and closer to O higher chances for a boy. God does play a role in all of these but also the statistics play a role as well. Out of 22 couples Shettles worked with wanting girls. All stopped having sex 2-3 days prier to O 19 of the 22 couples had girls. 3 had boys. I think those odds are pretty darn good.

LOLOLOL!!!! I just can't help but laugh at all this talk about chances of having a girl or boy. It's 50/50 for everyone, dear. And since the sperm comes from the man, then there's really nothing you can do to increase your chances of one or the other. God is the Only One Who knows and He already has it planned out. I've tried all those wives tales and when it said I was having a boy, I had a girl. In fact, I have 5 girls and no boys. So, it's all a bunch of hogwash. It's all just a coincidence that someone had what the test said they were having. Just be happy whatever God gives you. Good luck!!

It depends more on the quality of your cervical mucus. If you notice clear, stretchy stuff, it will keep the sperm alive for 2-5 days, so you could have sex before ovulation. If you don't have good quality CM, you should have sex on the day of ovulation, since sperm would probably only live for 24 hours. I would say you have a good chance still if you try today, since the egg will live for up to 24 hours after you ovulate. GOODLUCK!!!

I think BD right on the day of ovulation is a great time to achieve conception. I BD the day before I ovulated this month so I guess ill see if it happens. I think atleast 3 days before, 1 day before, the day of, and the day after ovulation is all good times to get pregnant so no you aren't too late go for it! Good luck and let us know what happens ;)

There is a theory, I forgot what it is called, that the closer to ovulation you concieve, the better chances are to have a girl. I believe this theory. My first son was concieved 3 days after my period. My second son was concieved 2 days before my period was due. I will be trying to get pregnant for a girl when I choose and to do it during my ovulation. Good Luck!!!

If you have intercourse 2-3 days before ovulation and then abstain you increase your chances of girl. If you have intercourse the day before and day of ovulation you increase your odds of boy.

The theory is - girl sperm swim slower and live longer than boy sperm who swim faster but die sooner, so for a girl have sex as early as you can in your fertile phase and then abstain and for a boy as late as you can and as often as you like!

Also - any CM other than egg white is designed to kill the intruders and block their passage to reduce risk of infection. Ovulation generally occurs when your CM changes from EW to whatever is usual for you after (usually watery or thick, white). Sperm can live for upto 5 days in EW CM, BUT it is unlikely that the egg/s you release are viable for more than 24 hours.
