The Democratic Party, every other party they can work with bi-partisanly that has tollarble philosphical differnces, non-governmental organizations, engineers, scienetists, Move.org and all of the online community and the public that wants to participate should hold a confrence to fix (and i mean really actually fix) the katrina recovery effort and make the whole damaged area better then new as a templete to fix disaster stricken city's and areas and also to get people in the south and all over the country to vote in some progressive platforms and policies when they see it can work for katrina, they'll see it can work for anything if people vote it in and give the effort to see it implamented.

Fixing the Katrina problem is NOT one that can be fixed by conferencing on what the Federal government did right or wrong. This is a state and local issue and was a total failure on their part. Once they realized that they had messed up, they decided to pass the buck on to FEMA....yes their response may not have been adequate, but when something is thrown in your lap at the last second, what else are you supposed to do? It is not the Fed. gov'ts job to clean up the mess that the state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans made. Plus...what are the chances that things would have been reversed...if Bush and FEMA had stepped in from the beginning...then he would have been seen as trying to take over a state's situation...

Yep, that is what we need. More government conferences. Maybe one in Tahiti or Thailand or even better rent one of those cruise ships.

We have already spent billions on repairing the damage done to the area and most of it has gone to fraud and waste.

Enough. The government is too corrupt to fix anything at a reasonable cost. Tell the people down there they are on their own and stop spending all this money for nothing.

And they will rebuild and it will be better than new.

Did you know they have a spell check feature on this site?

Go anywhere other than New Orleans that was hit by Katrina. See how they handled recovery. Conference over.

A good idea, but one that is probably not practical given the political environment today, there is to wide a divide to actually find solutions to any problem.
