No. There's a statute of limitations. In most states, it's no more than seven years.
I would suggest therapy. Stress can trigger PTSD, even years after the fact, and as someone who has suffered from PTSD...I can tell you that therapy can help!

I'm not a lawyer, but I would think that it's possible to file charges against the person. However, after 35 years, the authorities may not be willing to prosecute, since it'll be hard to prove.
The prosecution of that person, does not always mean that the victim would be be over the trauma of what had happened. I'd suggest joining group therapy to help the person deal with the experience, and continue with a normal life.

I just saw on the news where a couple was charged with abusing kids from 20 to 25 years earlier. I believe the answer is yes.
Statute of limitations doesn't count for physical crimes - only property crimes.

Contact the local DA, some places have a new law that supersedes the statue of limitations one. Sexual crimes have a new category and can be opened when the victim is experiencing trauma and can show long range problems that made earlier prosecution impossible.

I'd certainly try. One ought to be able to sue for damages without any question at all. Where could we find an attorney with whom we could talk? I'd file a civil case, not criminal. There are problems with statute of limitations for criminal prosecution, let alone evidence.

There is a new law that says you can press charges after the flashbacks begin.
After 7-10 after the flashbacks begin you can't press charges after that.
I would surely talk to an attorney.

I think theres a time limit on those things, but I would suggest seeking counsel. Professional and spiritual. Ask yourself if you have truly forgiven the person and seek forgiveness from GOD. His love and his grace will truly set you free from the bondage of this terrible tradgedy. I will say a special prayer for you today and faithfully wait for your recovery. Only because he did it for me is why I can tell you this!
