Easiest and most likely scenario...Open the case and un-plug the three cables take out the 4 screws. Pull out the drive look at the jumper on the back of the drive and set the new drive jumper to match (slave, master, or cs) if in doubt use cs setting. Slide the new drive in put in the screws re- connect the cables close up the case and your done. In rare cases you may need to move the mainboard if it is blocking the screws but in most newer cases you will not have that problem. If you do need to move the main board out of the way you will need a bit of mechanical ability to see what you need to remove or if the modem and etc will just swing out of the way with the main board. If you need to remove the modem etc. just mark the slot and device with letters numbers or whatever so you know for sure which slot they came out of. It is a very simple process and most likely will only take 10-15 minutes. Good Luck,

You have to open the case. Once you are inside it's a pretty easy process of popping off the screws on the side of the old CD drive. Disconned old CD drive from the computer (power and communication cable) and slide it out. Reverse the process to install the new drive. It's REALLY easy if you have a Dell.
