Anyway, as others have mentioned, the character Paul died of a heart attack. The actor, John Ritter, died of an aortic aneurysm.

I remember seeing the episode where he collapsed at the grocery store from a fatal heart attack. I always wondered why they didn't show him in the hospital or something, it's because he died in real life.
