it is so easy.
First the position you play has a number.
Half back is a 2...Full back is a 3 - usually.
The offensive line has spaces between the players that are called "holes" - each hole has a number.
Odd numbers left - even on the right - usually.
Starting from the center - 2,4,6, and 8 to the right. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 left
If the quarterback says 23 dive...
that means the Number 2 guy gets the ball...and he better dive through that 3 hole (between Left Guard and Tackle).
Good luck

I Played running back in High school, and yes it can be difficult at first. Learn your play book. Even when your are not receiving the ball you have an assignment. After learning your plays then the easy parts comes, helpfully your gifted and it comes naturally you need vision some speed, power, and of course a good line. If your not a starter learn from the one who is starting. Be patience that's key.

Have him bring some Pasta and Bread with him next time. Honestly, the best solution to a bully is to simply stand up to him. The only reason the guy can make him smell his armpits is because he lets him make him smell them. Not only will the bully leave him alone, but he will gain a lot of respect from his teammates for standing up for himself.

first you need to learn all the plays, take them home and study like a final exam, then pay close attention to your coaches as to where you should be on each play.
don't worry kid you will be OK

its easy.. only kids who have never played dont understand the system.. if your a starting running back you shouldnt be asking questions like this.. basicly the qb will tell you everytime what the play is.. and all you do is lineup that way.. all the plays designed for you .. you will know

if you are in high school and asking this question i have the answer. don't stand too close to the sideline when the play comes toward you. my suggestion is to get a spot closest to the water coolers.
