This question is directed more towards non-Americans. So many people like to hate on America, but there are a lot of good people who have done a lot for the world. What things about Americans do you like?

I was born in America, but I have to say to all American haters, My Grandparents on both sides came here to look for a better life during the early 1900s. America is all about people from all over the world who care about making a good life, not just for Themselfs, but for all. Thats what make us strong. If anyone out there thinks We are trying to take over the world You are ignorant because We could have done that a long time ago. What America is doing is babysitting the world, because so many Countrys cant get Their sh** together. Dont mess with the U.S.

I'm an "American" and I have to say that your question is too general. To say I like X, Y, and Z about Americans is completely ignorant and useless, as no American is the same.

I'm going to go ahead though and be a hypocrite, just to experiment. As I just stated, I'm not fond of generalizations, but I'll make one here... for some... unknown... reason:

There are basically 4 types of Americans:

"MTVers", as my friend would say. These are pop culture addicts, media wh0res, who do not think for themselves. They are controlled by the massive entertainment industry, which, believe it or not, is highly government regulated. Unfortunately, this group is very large.

"Averagejoeers" the ones who act nicely according to their religious believes, but only to certain groups of people. They are nice when it is right for them. They don't question orthodox ways much, and are only nice because they have been privledged to be raised that way. Somewhat healthier balance of education & entertainment. This is your ordinary citizen, I suppose.

"Freethinkers", or those who seek truth. Those who understand the importance of education/enlightenment > entertainment. Those who try to live without prejudice. Unfortunately, this group is very small.

"Comboers", or any mixture of 2 or 3 from the above descriptions. This is the transistionary stage, many agnostic/confused/lost teenagers and young folk fall into this category.

If you ever need help, like rebuilding after earthquakes or tsunamis, Americans drop everything and give until it hurts. Americans also give until it hurts when the world is threatened by fascists as has been shown throughout history, even when the rest of the world doesn't have the stomach to take care of such civilization destroying evil.

The USA is a great country, full of opportunities for everybody. You can find good jobs and change jobs easily and your privacy and rights are respected. Great people, you can find all kind of cultures and people here, and they respect each other. They saved Europe in 2nd WW and saved the World from the tyranny. Great place to live and work.

I like Americans because they didn't have to swim the Rio Grande or cross the border at night to get here! I like Americans because they were born here and pay taxes! I like Americans because they aren't a drag on the economy! I like Americans because I am an american! I like Americans because they work for fair wages not refried beans! I like Americans because they don't shack up 30 people in a 2 bedroom house to live! I like Americans because most of them are clean enough not to attract roachs! La coca racha!

americans can be friendly--waves, says hi even if they don't know who i am. this happened in theme parks i've visited in CA. and then there's this one guy who sat beside me in the bus on the way to NYC and simply started up a conversation. he even explained why american houses are mostly made of prefabricated materials even if they can easily get destroyed in tornadoes and hurricanes.

Selfish, ignorant, self-indulgent, arrogant, immoral, hateful, holier-than-thou, unapologetic, murderous, inconsiderate, low-budget, ghetto, embarrassingly stupid...and that's what I LIKE about Americans!
