How long does the line for the roller coaster have to be to do what?

For example, are you asking how long does a line have to be,

o Before you will say, "wow, that line is long, maybe we should join it." ie. it's popular enough for you to get in line (herd mentality)?

o Before you will exit the line (I'm hungry and don't want to wait mentaility)?

o Before the park will add another train onto the tracks (the make people wait at least x minutes mentality)?

o Before people start cutting in it (no respect for authority mentality)?

o Before you say I'm gonna miss my ride (the I'm with the parents mentality)?

o Before the ride operators start making fun of the guests (the i'm a park worker who likes to torture guests mentality)?

o Before it runs into another ride (the rides are spaced too closely mentality)?

o Before it's longer than the track (the i have too much time on my hands mentality)?

o Before you start thinking about going to the bathroom first (pee pee mentality)?

Just let me know and I'll be glad to give you my thoughts! :-)

I prefer for there to be no line, but that never seems to be the case at Paramounts Kings Island or Cedar Point, which I sometimes visit, and which have some of the best rollercoasters in the world. I have seen the lines at those sometimes be in the range of 1 mile long (3+ hour wait).

As long as there is one person waiting for the ride, I would consideder that a line. If that's the case, usually you can get off and get right back on. I always do!!! But if there are actual people in line, it could take hours!!! That would depend how many people and cars are going at once!

It doesnt have to be any length, if it is long i will not ride the coaster. I hate waiting in line with the tremendous heat it stinks.

I believe 0.586 Km is the standard for the newer metal kind roller coasters. 2.3 Km is the minimum for a wooded one, unless you have sprinklers, then 1.3 Km is enough.

The queue for Dueling Dragons at IOA (Universal Park in Orlando) is HUGE...honestly it must be a quarter of a mile easy.
