All I know is that I live in Atlanta, where the commuting costs are highest in the Country. I'd love to spend less than $200. a month just to get back and forth to work. I believe the oil companies are trying thier hardest not to let anyone succeed in finding alternative sources. I do believe (for now) the oil runs this country - just imagine where we would be without it. Nothing will move. GM needs to crank those cars out here and we NEED to see Ethanol pumps going up soon. We need to invest more in Fuel cell technology and get away from oil.

"Big Oil" is only big because consumers pour it into their SUV's as fast as it will come out of the hose, while they falsely accuse President Bush of being in Big Oil's pocket.
Big Oil can't even build a refinery in America anymore because the tree huggers have lobbied so much against it. And the east and west coast liberals are currently lobbying against American ethanol for all they're worth, because it's made in the midwest. Maybe they'd like to turn some Napa Valley or New York state wine into fuel, like the French are doing, when nobody can afford wine any more.

In my case, you're preaching to the choir. Of course Big Oil runs the country. It's family name is Bush.
My granddaughter just had to give a speech in school aimed at convincing the government to okay the production of ethanol. She learned about the greenhouse effect and global warming and it upset her quite a bit. What are we leaving for their generation? I don't think the greenhouse effect is reversible, but we can at least slow it down, can't we? And we, the US, are guilty of being the worst when it comes to pollution.
Have you heard about how the icebergs are melting? How about this terrible summer we've just had? Is there still anyone out there who doesn't believe in global warming?

I think your view is to narrow. Money creates power, those that control the money controls the power. Politicians control the law, who controls the political? Knowledge Is Power, who controls what you hear and see, who determines what you are taught in the institutes of higher learning? Sorry, you'll have to find your own answers, you'll appreciate them more.
