Don't worry. It is a painless procedure. It will take a while because the thyroid is so thin. Once you get it out they will give you medication to help do the job that the thyroid usually does. The medication will help with regulate your metabolism. That is what the thyroid does. My father had his removed. There was a scar but he put Neosporn on it. It healed great and you can't even tell he had it removed. They keep you in the hospital for a day because they give you medicine that is radioactive. If you are worried talk to your doctor. They do plenty of them to answer all of your questions. Good luck!!

If they take it out, you will be given a medication that duplicates what a thyroid does. Before that takes effect, you'll probably have hot flashes and stuff like that.
