This is good news for everybody working in the science textbook industry who get to churn out updated books.

But tomorrow they'll be telling us that Uranus is now a body part.

My dear this is not really news. Pluto as a planet, or lack thereof, was being discussed as far back as 2000. But think of it this way, pluto was always the runt of the litter. Under the new definition of planets Pluto has more friends closer to his size.

So everyone should be happy.

Ha ha! That's funny!
Pluto is now a "dwarf" planet instead of a "classical" planet. So, it's still a planet; just not in the same class as the other 8.

There you'll find like minded people who will never think of Pluto as a random Kuiper belt object, or seemingly benign planetoid. It's a planet. Deal with it, science community!!

It's those Uruguyan astronomers and their doctrines of orbital dominance! This is all their fault.
Oh well, if Pluto was a planet, then we'd have to have 3 new planets to learn, too.

i dont know about a support group since it just happened. but i posted a question about it too. i dont quite need a support group, but i am angry not only because they are rewriting history(a good reason for anger in itself), but also because so many schools cannot afford new textbooks, not that they should have to be rewritten because of this anyways.

its easier to LEARN MORE PLANETS than to UNLEARN ONE

i think you and my husband should form one. he actually printed the article and took it to work to show everyone tonight. i really don't think that many people where he works are gonna care.
i am not even sure why he is freaked out by it. it isn't like we had a summer home on pluto or anything.
