Yes! I started seeing a chiropractor several years ago, for a couple of problems.

One: I had very limited range of motion when turning my neck, due to an old snowboarding injury. I also had stiffness and pain at times too.

Two: I had chronic (altho not severe) upper back pain and tension, mainly in the trapezius and rhomboid muscles, due to spending 5 1/2 years attending college with a damn heavy backpack on my back! (And worn incorrectly, I suspect).

Three: I had on-and-off lower back pain and stiffness, and sometimes felt like my hips/pelvis where out of whack.

BOTTOM LINE: All of these problems are either resolved, or much much better, now that I'm a chiropractic patient. :) It took several months of frequent treatments resolve the range of motion and pain issues, but now all I do is go for "maintenance" adjustments once a month or so.

OH, before I forget, I used to have trouble with springtime allergies before I started seeing a chiropractor. They've now almost disappeared, and the ONLY thing that's different is that I go to a chiro. :) I didn't move to another location, I didn't go for allergy shots, nothing!

I don't think there's any "ballpark" figure for how much it costs to see a chiro, because there's a LOT of variation among what they charge. Also, sometimes your health insurance will pay for part of the cost, which is great if you can get it! Unfortunately my HMO plan doesn't cover chiro, so I have to pay it all myself. Fortunately, tho, my chiro is very reasonable. :)

Yes, I have seen a chiropractor for 20 years. He has never given me an x-ray because he uses manual diagnostic techniques, but he has x-rayed other members of my family when manual diagnosis was inadequate. A manual adjustment usually costs $40. I have seen him for many ailments (foot pain, heel pain, arm/hand tingling, abdominal pain, knee pain, hip pain, jaw pain and of course, upper and lower back pain). What I have found is that the longer I go with the pain before I see him, the more adjustments that I need. For example, my big toe/ball of foot hurt for over a year. I saw general physicians, orthopedic doctors, podiatrist and none helped. Finally a friend referred me to the chiropractor and it took a couple months of 1-2 times a week adjustments and a pair of orthotics for my shoes, but finally got relief from the pain. When I had the jaw pain, I went to see him immediately and needed only one adjustment.
Good luck.

I tried it but it didn't help because it was the muscles that were damaged not the bones. My suggestion take two capsules of MSM (Methylsufonylmethane) and one capsule of Melatonin. This will help heal the muscles, take this 3x per day and then after a week or more take when needed. I did this when I stretched the muscles in my back. Now I take when my back is sore. Which could be once every 3 weeks or so, maybe less maybe more. Depends on what I am doing. Usually after I clean the house, etc; vacuum. MSM is also good for arthritis. You can get them at your local drug store.

It does help if you find a GOOD one. I suggest talking to people and pick one by word of mouth. And then make an appointment. Usually you can go and not be charged a fortune. Alot of insurance companies will cover it. The only thing that I'm wondering about is what your diagnosis was. You may be needing something a little more aggressive as far as treatment.

Yes, and it helped tremendously. The first procedure the doctor did was some sort of shock therapy, were the electric pulses relax the nerves around your back muscles. (feels great) The next step is laying on your back and having a "rolling pin" go from your tail bone all the way up to your shoulders. Finally, the doctor lies you on a bed and realigns your back, CRACK! This took care of my lower back pain immediately and I could walk up right as soon as I left the doctors office. Cost was about $60.
