I drive a 1996 Ford Contour and my dash lights and rear lamps don't work. I don't know which fuse(s) to replace.

Fuse #24 in the fuse panel under the driver's side dash is the fuse for the instrument cluster lamps and the brake lamps. It is a 15 amp fuse. Fuse # 31 is also for the cluster and license plate lamp, it is a 7.5 amp fuse. If fuse # 24 is blown and blows repeatedly, a closer look at the brake lamp switch should be done, these have a tendency to go bad or have broken wiring at the switch.

If no fuses are blown in the box near the brake pedal check under the hood and look at the main fuse. its usually a 100A blue fuse and alot bigger then normal fuses. I would advise using a fuse tester with a light at the end to signal the amps of the fuse. Goodluck man

If none of the fuses are blown, try checking your tail light bulbs. I don't know if they still do it or not, but car makers used to wire your dash lights with the tail lights so the dash lights would go out if your tail lights quit working. It was supposed to be an indicator type thing, but since very few people knew about it, it didn't work out very well.

Look at the fuse panel or top of fuse box and see which one corrsponse with your needs or get a tester and test all fuses to find out if any are blown
