it's a cultural thing. When I lived in Houston, there was a Vietnamese restaurant I frequented. I became sort of friends with the owners. Their children came in the restaurant from school and went to a special table in the back where they did their homework immediately. NOTHING came before their homework. After the work was checked, which was funny because only the girls spoke English well enough, then they went to work in the restaurant. This type work ethnic is common among the minority groups, especially oriental. In Japan children can be disowned for not excelling in school. Try this with American kids and the Child Protective Services will have you in jail. Spend some time among the Orientals and learn why they will take over the world. People complain that the Hispanics are over taking the Anglos in the US. This may be true but the Oriental will own it.

Funny that you ask that question today. When I picked up my adopted daughter (Asian) from high school today she was all upset because she was placed into AP Chemistry and Geopgraphy this year and they had a quiz today and she got everything wrong. She never wanted in the advanced classes, the school just put her in there. She says it's because she's Asian so everyone thinks that she should be some sort of genius or something.
It's a stereo type that all Asian people are more intelligent than any other race of people.

I think the role the diet has, is helping the brain to concentrate, but other that that, most Asians are smart because they are very disciplined through school, almost all Asians i know get straight A's because their parents simply wont allow bad grades, and since they have that diet they pay more attention than most absorbing all of the info. instead of just bits and pieces, like most Americans haha

It could be self selection.

Have you noticed that in the US, students from India are usually really smart? But if you go to London, you see that Indians are working as janitors and maids. Do you think that Indians are smart in the US and dumb in the UK? Or is it more likely that it is harder to come to the US unless they are smart -- while smart, average and dumb Indians can move to England? I think it is the later.

I'm sure that there are lots of Asians of all kinds who are of average or below average intelligence. We just aren't letting them into the country.

I don't know other than the fact that education is so highly valued in china...the top profession is that of teacher...followed by farmers merchants and businessmen...It shows a completely different value system. And I know how hard some Chinese people work at their education..they're a smart/industrious people.

Just a hot tip: You'll find it has to do with culture and homelife, not genetics.

Beware of any statements that single out an ethnic or racial group as excelling (or failing) at anything. This is the basis of racism.

Statistically there's no difference in intelligence.
But americans would benefit from any diet other than cheeseburger, fries and coke.

It's simple. They actually learn things at school instead of worrying about what to wear.
