Tell your mother you have a very irregular menstrual cycles and you think you should have the doctor check you. Get an appointment to have a pap smear at your doctors office. They can also tell you why your period are irregular. Before she does the pap smear she should ask your mother to leave. She will the ask you questions an she'll answer your questions. During that time you can tell her that you would like to be on birth control because your periods are irregular. When your mother comes back in the Doctor will explain to your mother that it's best if your on birth control due to your irregular periods. She will take it better coming from a doctor and knowing that its a medical problem. Also don't say birth control say contraceptives that way it doesn't sound like its protecting you from having a child. Hope I helped!! Good Luck girl!!

Pretty much all you can do is be honest with her and let her know that birth control isn't just about preventing pregnancy. You can actually take the steps on your own to make an appointment with your doctor or plannedparenthood.
I went on birth control for the same reasons as you want to be on it. Regulate my period, less cramps and defiantly helps treat acne for me. Even mood swings are helped.
You can tell her that when you do become sexually active, you will be open and honest with her still. It is a big step for your mom to take knowing her little girl is growing up and will make choices on your own. It is hard for her to not know a lot of information anymore. When you become a parent as well I, we will more understand what that feels like having our own daughter do the same thing.

Just that, tell her that you want to be on it for those reasons. Maybe she doesn't want you on it for other reasons because of the health risks associated with birth control. Have you asked? To some mothers its only worth it to prevent pregnancy in their kids and not worth the health risks to regulate a period. Also, she may be concerned that if you do become active, you won't bother with a barrier method for back-up to prevent STDs. You don't know what she's thinking so it's hard to counter what she'll say.
In any case, the only way to get a positive result from this (by that I mean, not what you want but not a screaming match with accusations flying both ways) is to sit down and chat. Ask her why she doesn't want you on it. You may be surprised at her answer.

you seem like a rational young lady, Well spoken. You need to do some research and show her that being on the pill can help regulate your cycle, I know that for me it really helped with cramps. The information is out there you just have to get it to her. I am a parent and I know I don't want my daughter taking any unnecessary medications.
Oh hey you could always have your Dr talk to her. When is your next girl Dr appt? Have them tell her the benefits of the pill.

I would have her make me an appt. at the doctor and ask for a moment with the nurse alone, and explain the problems, with your cycle and your reasoning, perhaps, the Dr. can explain the benefits. Whatever the outcome, don't use b.c. pills to Protect you from disease. You seems to have a better understanding than most. I understand, the regulation you are looking for. Good Luck.

Well, probably because that's not really the point of birth control. Just ask your doctor for some hormones.
