Must be plentiful. The whole French team for starters, and four-fifths of their club players.

They don't call it Gay Paree (Paris) for nothing.

Maybe there's quite a few - but being the UK, they are indeed right to keep it to theirselves. I can only remember Justin Fashanu (...not John, Ben H.) at Norwich. It wasn't the fact that he was gay, but he was also black - which was a double-whammy for the ultimately moral and correct press in the early eighties...known as the red-top right-wing newspapers. On account of the pressure of the press on him - and his ultimate suicide, would you not blame gay footballers for keeping quiet, for let's face it, if he can kick a ball better then Beckham or even the boy Rooney, that'll mean zilch when his family and/or partner gets to read it...and there will be people who makes sure they do.

Sorry, this isn't a full answer - I really believe so many are married or having relationship with women, and who don't isn't necessarily gay - last year a pro 'serie B' player ends his career to become a Catholic Priest - so we will never know the right answer - but I'm wondering why are you concerned in players sexual habits...
All over the world Pele (everytime drowning in debts, he prolonged his career and joined friendly match to rise money) and Maradona (everyone knows his issue) are the best ever ranked players. George Best was another ever time champ heavily issued.
I'm definitively UNCONCERNED about players habits and behaviors, so I can't understand your point.
Do you like football or gays? If you like football, you have to be concerned about players skills, not sexual preferences and other side stuff not football related. If you like gays, I'm sorry, we live in a society were gays are annoyed and no one top level football star gay player will ever declare himself, believe me.

i don't think there is a gay footballer. if he's gay, then the manager would've thrown him out. i mean, with all men out there, wouldn't it be annoying to have a gay in a team??

Well, since gay = happy, I will say that all Italian soccer players must be feeling very gay over their World Cup win! Don't you agree?
