Before U.S.S.R became a country was it a city before?

i know U.S.S.R is a country now, but what was it considered as before?

was never a country! UNION of soviet socialist republics. no longer exists. they all exist as separate countries now

It was 'czarist' russia, although between than and the origin of the USSR, there were revolts, and there was 'Bolshevik Russia', around the time of the end of world war 1. Bolshevik Russia soon changed to a communist state, and Russia got back some of the territories it had lost near the end of the war, and became the soviet union (USSR). Czarist Russia was the Russian Empire, ruled by the Czar. The last czar abdicated because growing modernization was empowering the peasantry, among other changes, and the people wouldn't tolerate his seemingly inept rule, especially with the problems World War 1 was causing to Russia, internally.

No, it was a Kingdom to the best of my knowledge. The 1917 revolution over threw the Czar (King) I believe.

before ussr is russia. it is ruled by tsar nicholas the second. in fact during ww1 russia became ussr.
