Silver polish (for serving pieces) will work. There are also places (catalogs) that sell plates that you put in a sink of water then dip the silver in it. You usually have to use a reactive agent. This is one of those things that looks like a come-on, but actually works!

A household hint for cleaning silver is to use TOOTHPASTE! To
avoid scratching, you might want to use a very soft toothbrush or a flannel cloth. Toothpaste is supposed to be gentle on your tooth enamel so it ought to be okay on silver. Get the cheap stuff and it probably doesn't need to be with flouride. Maybe the toothpaste with baking soda would be good. Experiment!
Cleaning copper can be done quite easily with KETCHUP! I found this out by accident when a kettle of tomato soup I was cooking boiled over (I had turned my back for jus a gigasecond...you know how that goes) and the tomato based soup left a clean band on the dirty copper bottom of the soup kettle.
Have fun cleaning your valuables.
SMILE!

Take a glass tray or plastic tray, put in a piec of aluminum As in foil, you need a large piece folded several times, add baking soda to the water and BOILING water. Touch your silver to the foil and it will remove the tarnish. DOnt do it if its jewelry set with stones though.
Or use toothpaste and a soft toothbrush then rinse.
After you get it clean store it drey in a ziploc bag to keep the air off it, so it doesnt tarnish.

Well I own nothing but sterling silver jewelry. You can either buy sterling silver cleaner for jewelry or what I do most of the time is if you have an old toothbrush scrub your jewelry with that with toothpaste as your solution....It really cleans it well and makes it shine really pretty.

you are probably going to think i am crazy but i use an old tooth brush....boil it to clean it a little and then use a little bit of tooth paste on the tooth brush and just brush the jewelry clean...as long as it's real and not fake then it will clean it and make is shiny. If it's not real then it will make it rust. after cleaning it make sure you wash it real good.
Also, make sure that you rub the tooth paste into the brush a little dont just put a clob of it on the ring or whatever it is you are cleaning
