You square root it. For example , x^2(x squared) = 16 you square root it. The square root of x^2 is just x and the square root of 16 is 4 so x = 4.

If the exponent is a 2, you square root both sides of the equation
If the exponent is a three, you cube root both sides of the eq. and so on........specific example?
