My Chow Chow is not the same anymore.
When I call her she doesnt come, only when she wants to, and when she sees its me she just turns right back around.
Yesterday we tried calling her and she didn't come, she is grouchy sometimes.
She has gotten very sneaky too, she is an outside dog, so she wimpers when you "sweet talk" her from the window, it means she wants you to come out or pet her, so has soon as I open the screen door all that is just ignored and she just FORCES herself in. She could care less about the love. She is just very bitchy.
I don't know, but it we had a baby pitbull that she liked to punk around, we gave him away though, but after that...she changed.

Chows are VERY hierarchical dogs, yours is acting dominant. As a mature dog she thinks she's in charge and is acting that way by defying you. Th best thing to do is to reassert your dominance and do it soon before she gets used to her self assigned new place in the chain of command so to speak If your married have your hubby leash her and make her obey and do it repeatedly several times a day and for at least a week this will show her her place in your (pack) home don't be mean just firm and don't yield an inch Good Luck!

Usually, when a dog has a problem its directly related to the owner not handling the new situation properly. Dogs are only as well adjusted as their owner. If the owner does not maintain top-dog status and demand submission from the pet, the pet loses his feeling of place in the pack and acts out accordingly. If you are having a problem with a bitchy dog, you have to regain control. The pet cannot be allowed to thinks it has authority over the owner. I do not mean that you have to be abusive, you merely need to reestablish you authority as master. When you want her to do something, make her do it. Stand over her, bent over at the waist, look directly into her eyes without smiling or talking baby or "pet talk" until she lies down on her back and submits. You may hve to make her do it several times, Chows are stubborn. Once you have her submitting things will most likelt return to normal unlessthereis a physiological involved.
