I must be a case. When we broke up 22 years ago, I was devastated! For 22 years, I I have been thinking to her everyday. Never have had any sexual relationship with someone else since the day we broke up. I am faithful to her even if she is not there anymore.
There is a beautiful song by Art Garfunkel: "I believe when I fall in love, it could be forever". For me, it is forever!

yes there are. My ex was faithful to his ex-wife for 9yrs even though she used to cheat on him. Now he's with a new girlfriend and even though she only has sex with him once a month or once every 2 months he is faithful to her. I know because we're still friends and he tells me. He does not cheat on her, he's always with her, except when he's working. After work it's going home, taking shower, and running asap to her house.
