I had the same problem. Moisture from cleaning the stove top. I pulled the wire from the faulty one for a few days and plugged it back on. Problem solved. Same thing with my sons stove and same result. Be careful with the wires. They have some high voltage in them. HOWEVER, you have to light the burners with matches and you have to make sure you don't leave a burner on and gas yourself or cause an explosion. You could also try drying them with a hair drier. I never thought of that until just now. Go figure.

Either the range is experiencing a ground fault or the control for that burner will need to be replaced. Go to Lowes or a parts store and buy an adapter that you plug into the electrical outlet. It will verify that the wiring is in order. These aren't that expensive and come in handy. If its OK then unplug the range and remove the top. Unplug the ignitor wire to the one in question and that will stop it from sparking until you get the valve replaced.

When you where cleaning your Range you got the Igniter wet. You need to turn on the gas and use a lighter or match to reignite the burner. It will pop for a short while tell the igniter drys. Then turn off the burner and cycle it to see if it is corrected.

Probably a wiring problem, it should only strike when the dial is in the start position.
