You are no doubt referring to Last Kiss, originally penned and performed by my friend Wayne Cochran, and his band, C.C. Riders in 1962. The most popular version was recorded by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers in 1964. For you younger people, Pearl Jam made a #2 hit out of the ballad in 1999.
Jake & I first met Wayne, The King of Blue-Eyed Soul when he was playing at a bowling alley in Calumet City, Illinois (my home town)in a club called The Castaways. He and Jake & me were big devotees of James Brown, and he had a tremendous amount of soul. Shortly thereafter, his home base became Miami, in a club called The Barn. Whenever he came to Chicago to play the Regal Theater, we would spend time swapping tales about the great legends of R&B that influenced our lives.
Wayne became a preacher in 1981, but he never lost his love for the blues, and has great respect for the legends that came before him.

It's by Nickelback and I cannot remember the name of the song...maybe that's not it...I dunno...check it out tho.

i think you are thinking of "last kiss". Pearl Jam did a cover of it, not the original!
