There is no best grip so long you are comfortable and able to return every shot, that is the best grip.

there's no such thing as a best grip that everybody should use.
because everybody morphology is different, each tennis player has his own grip, one that feels comfortable and adapted to his morphology. so one may use an eastern grip, somebody else a western grip.
but to answer your question, the grip that many player advize is the semi-western grip on your forehand and an eastern grip on your backhand.

i think that the best type of grips are the sweet proof type. when you are hitting you don't lose your grip and it won't slide around in your hand so much. i use the sweet proof type and they work great. but you need to change them every week or so because they wear out really fast. i go to dick's sporting goods to get the grips. the type get is even used by pros that play in the US Open.

I prefer the black grips. The white grips seems to get dirty and discolored really quickly. Just be careful about using cheap black ones they have a tendency to fall apart and make your hands black.

I use a semi western for my forehand and contenintal for my backhand and serve. They have always worked well for me. Just make sure you are comfortable with whatever grip you are using and try to be open to change if your coach or instructor trys to change yours.

IT depends on what feels comfortable to you. I use a continintal on my forehand and a eastern on my backhand.
