no pay. breeding to make stronger slaves, slave women used as concubines, slave families broken up, slaves bought as objects, no health care, condescending ways calling grown men boys, people treated as farm animals, worked in heat, not properly fed, whipped for speaking, traded for other farm goods, some used as currency, forced to work as no man should have to, worked hard for nothing.........I could go on for years.

First off, I also am Black, but Blacks can (are) be racist too. But I would use the basic simplist rational question. "How would you accept, condone slavery if your mother, sister or family member was enslaved? The golden rule, put oneself in the place of a slave and one would have the answer.
Good luck and hope/sure you will do well and receive a good grade.

You need to start with a few basic premises.

1) Human rights are given to all human beings irrespective. If not, human rights are arbitrary.
2) The first human right is that all humans are born free and equal.
3) The fourth human right says that no one should be held in slavery.

I've only chosen 3 of the many human rights that the majority of us enjoy, but if we decide that one of them can be abolished, or ignored, we run the risk of losing something worthwhile. I mean, this isn't a black racial thing, although many blacks were condemned to slavery for hundreds of years.
Slavery still persists in many countries. The white slave trade in Africa is still around. Child slavery and prostitution is common place in many Asian and South American countries.
Any "normal" member of society would be abhored by this, yet it continues.
If rights are for all, then slavery is wrong, because it separates one group, class, age range, sex from the rest.
Kant tried to universalise truth, by saying that something is true if it can be accepted as true by everybody. His argument was flawed because not everyone is rational, but his idea was going in the right direction.
If I say, you are my slave, because I feel like having a slave, I would not be able to deny you if you wanted me to be your slave just because you felt like it.
It is impossible to justify slavery with reasonable arguments. In other words using arguments that the majority would accept as being reasonable.
The same can be said for murder. Why is it wrong?

Look into various theories about ethics and morality. For example, Utilitarianism holds that the morally correct rule is the one that provids the greatest good to the greatest number of people. Enslaving people enriches the few at the expense of the poor, and denies working people jobs, so it qualifies.

LoL

well start w/ personal rights. think constitution, and what Freedom means....

u are free to do what u will, *as long as* u do NOT infringe on Other people's rights. so what rights are being Stepped on, if u

1) go to another country and KIDNAP people
2) force them to live w/ people who do not pay you wages
3) you have to do EVERYTHING someone else says, even if u do'nt agree
4) they buy and sell you, with no care to how you feel ur worth is
5) you are not allowed to run away

blah blah blah.. list goes on and on!! remember, key is, how do U want to be treated, and how do u treat others? if u don't want to be captured, torn from ur mother, bought and sold like meat, and forced to serve a "master", and get abused physically and mentally, and some people are forced to have sex against their will.... if u don't want it done to you, it's pretty much wrong =T

don't worry, I took a history class and we had to write an essay on a topic like this. Think about how slaves were treated (e.g. what were living conditions like, were they paid). Would anyone else want to be treated as a slave?

two living humans are equal in value of life, therefore one has no right to proclaim the other as property.

slavery already has been proven that it's wrong that's why it's against the law.
