I like it. it makes it a challenge for the players. without it, it would be to easy to score and it would almost be like you were playing for nothing. and, it wouldn't take as much an effort...i think the offside rule is good for matches...it makes for a good, competitive match.

I don't like it much because it's so easy to screw up. There have been many games ruined by the offside rule. I always use the Brasil v. Ghana example, I'm a Brasil fan but it was clear Ghana was playing better football in the world cup, however they lost 3-0 because of the offsides rule, the first goal was clearly offsides, and the next two were because of failed offsides traps (so then again, the better football claim could be debatable on Ghana's part because they failed). But anyway, it's so easy to miscall offsides and to structure the game around the rule and it gets on my nerves.

But the point is, without the rule the game would be much worse. Unless other rules are implemented (which could potentially be more complicated), it would be way too easy to score goals. A player could literally just stand near the goal waiting for the ball.

It really sucks sometimes, but we need it.

I think the rule really helps the game. It keeps a forward from just staying near the other team's goal. However, if you want a way to play without it, look into indoor soccer. In general, because indoor is much more fast-paced, offiside rules don't exist.

No, there would be too many goals scored then. But on the other hand, it would be exciting to see great strikers constantly scoring (and breaking records). But I don't think FIFA will abolish it because it really makes a good challenge, otherwise you would have strikers just standing near the goal, waiting for a pass to score.

Of course not. Otherwise forwards wouldn't require as much skill because they could just slip by the defenders instead of actually having to maneuver by them with the ball

sometimes I don't like it either, but it's been around for so long and has worked well, so I don't think fifa will eliminate it.

well, i don't think it's nice either.. but if it was eliminated.. this would be unfair for the opponent team.. so i don't think FIFA would eliminate it !
