where do you hook goldifih when using them as bait in a lake?

It is actually against the law in Florida to use goldfish as bait. First of all, they are damn effective at snagging largemouth bass. Unfortunately, if they get off your hook, survive, and procreate, they take over the lake and compete with the bass for food. Don't get caught!

All that being said, I'd probably hook through the dorsal fin or through the lips as if you were using a shiner.

Depends on what you want it to do. If you want more action hook it up under its jaw and out through between its eyes. if you are jigging hook it under the dorsal fin.
