Myself, I'd buy the old one and do it up. It depends on how good you are and how much time and money you could devote to doing it. Older houses tend to be better built than the houses nowadays. They are brick outers with stoving interiors, hence you can hear everything your neighbours get up to. As to Eastern European houses I've no idea on prices.

This depends on the house, and what it will be used for.

Buit firstly its all location. If you're looking to lease the house or rent it out for holidayers, then location is the single most important. Nobody will live in the middle of nowhere, even if its gorgeous.

If its an old building, what state is it in and how much is it going to cost to fix? Add onto that a contingency fund because things WILL GO WRONG at some point like some shoddy plumbing or electric work. Next, you have to be sure that there's good workmen doing the job, otherwise in the long run you'll have more problems than you bargained for.

Eastern Europe is relatively cheap for buying houses, compared to western, and given the low cost of living in many eastern countries, if you were from the west, or worked there for a few years the pay difference could tip the balance to buying a barnd new house.

I know there's more questions than answers in this , but I hope that helps.

Not to sure about Eastern Europe but normally a brand new building is the cheaper option, as they are normally covered by a building guarentee. If you buy an old rickity building then it more fun but does cost more.

Probably the old one but because I just want a easy life and too damn lazy to refurbish I would opt for a new one.

if you intend to do the work yourself and dont mind living in a building site, old buildings can be satisfying, but you may become a slave to it.
Better to buy new and enjoy the free time you would be spending mixing concrete

if you can do the work ur self & want to hunt for the cheapest or free materials then an old one, but if you good the money & do't know much about the construction then pay for a new one & save ur time for makin the buck$

If you can do the work yourself, buying and old one and fixing it would be the way to go, assuming it is in basically sound condition.
