I think it is best to delete it, especially if you have anything on there that would make an employer view you in a negative light. I'm currently trying to delete some of what I put out there on the internet when I was younger, not knowing that it would still be around years later. One thing you can do, that I did, is to create a professional looking personal website that highlights your accomplishments and makes you look good -- that will most likely be the first thing that will come up when people google you.

In certain ways I can see what an employer would say about this. It would solve problems before they happen if you knew someone was a partier and would possibly come into work hung over, for example. On the other hand it is not particularly fair becaus you can act one way with your friends and completely different at work. To be safe I deleted my myspace and on my journal site I protected my posts to ensure my privacy.

As an employeer I would use what ever it takes to hire the right person for a job. Your space is public and gives the employeer a chance to see the real you.
I would not delete your space unless you look like an imature idiot.

I didn't sign up with my real name. I'd suggest saving all the stuff on your page, deleting the account and creating a new one with a fake name and an e-mail address that your employer is unaware of.

Put your account under private but also it may help to see that you do have a life outside of work. You have a suffient enough of friends and a social life.

It is fair since you put yourself out there on the internet for the world to see (I do it, too) but you do have the option to set your page to private, or only put things on your page you wouldn't be embarassed about.
