i read this book over and over again. i still don't get it. if anyone has aread this book and has really got good details that can help me understand this. no i am not trying to cheat on my homwork i like book disscusions

she was really rich in Mexico and then her dad died and the house burned down.this other guy wanted to marry her mom and she said okay .her mom didn't really like him so they ran away to California, i think and worked there.then the rest is about how she lived there and how things changed to her

I have the book but I dont quite remember all of the details... however, Esperanza's place was burned down (I think) and she became poor and had to go to this place to work. She got really close to people--- her grandma who quilted a quilt for her--- and all of that good stuff.
